ABOUT 

Monolit Film is an independent Copenhagen-based production company founded in 2019, and consists of producers Pernille Tornøe and Victor Cunha. We are dedicated to filmmakers with strong personal voices and unique perspectives that challenge audiences - across feature films, series and documentaries. We cherish transparency in the way we work, and we wish to constantly re-examine our creative processes, to find the best path for each film. 

In 2022 “The Great Silence” premiered at San Sebastián International Film Festival, and has since won several awards including the Robert Ebert Award at Chicago International Film Festival. In 2024 the tv-series “Dark Horse” (TV 2 Denmark), premiered at Canneseries in 2024 - and soon after the feature documentary “Death of a Saint” premiered at CPH:DOX and received the Special Jury prize at Hot Docs. In 2025 Victor and Pernille received the prestigious producer award “Ib Prisen” at the 2025 Danish Academy Awards.



PEOPLE

Pernille Tornøe (b. 1989 Aarhus) is a Copenhagen based film producer. She has been freelancing on various productions while studying at Copenhagen University from 2011-2015 before enrolling to The National Film School of Denmark’s producer program in 2015. She graduated in 2019 with the film “Below the Waves, Above the Clouds” directed by Katrine Brocks, which was nominated for a Danish Academy Award in 2020.

Pernille was associate producer on the feature film “Team Hurricane” (2017) and produced the documentary “Dreaming Murakami” (2018) as well as several short films before and during her time at film school. Right after graduating, Pernille co-founded the production company Monolit Film.

Pernilles feature film debut as a producer “The Great Silence”, directed by Katrine Brocks, premiered at San Sebastián International Film Festival in 2022. Since then the film has travelled to various festivals, where it won the Roger Ebert Award at Chicago International Film Festival and Best Feature Film Debut at Nordic Film Days Lübeck. It premiered locally in Denmark in January 2023.

Pernille Tornøe

Born in Salvador, Brazil, in 1988 and moved to Denmark with his family in 1995. During his early years in the film industry, Victor worked at Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) on TV-series such as “The Killing” while independently producing smaller projects. He was admitted to the National Film School of Denmark’s producer’s programme in 2015 and graduated in 2019 with graduation films “For Juliane” and “Villa Villekulla” both of which were nominated for a Danish Academy Award. That same year, he co-founded the production company Monolit Film.

In early 2024 Victor premiered the critically acclaimed TV-series, “Dark Horse”, which had international premiere in the main competition at Canneseries. His first feature-length documentary, “Death of a Saint”, had its premiere in the NEXT:WAVE competition at CPH:DOX and the international premiere in the International Competition at Hot Docs.
